PATTERN MAKING I (INTENSIVE SHORT COURSE) – 10 WEEKS
Based on current industry methods, Pattern Making Intensive I Short Course is designed for those who want hands on experience in pattern making. If you would like to start your career as a designer, dressmaker, pattern maker, sample hand, machinist, want to start your own label or simply want to learn the fundamentals in pattern making, then this is the course for you!
Pattern Making Intensive I can be studied by beginners as well as those with some sewing and pattern making knowledge. The level of proficiency achieved will depend very much on the willingness of the student to learn and to complete the set tasks, requiring consistent application at home as well as in the classroom.
This intensive course covers the fundamentals of Patter Making. Beginning with a straight line skirt carded block and then adding modifications including:
- Converting skirt to A-Line using pivot method and slash open method
- Kick pleats, pleats and gathering
- Waistbands/Waist facing
- Lapped zips, invisible zips
- Introduction to pockets: scoop pockets, side seam pockets
- Button wraps/button placement
Pattern Making Intensive I Short Course is the pre-requisite for Pattern Making Intensive II Short Course.
Completion of set assignments on time and to the required standard.
